When we were kids in the 1960s my brothers and I always played Star Trek, and I was always Scotty, but inasmuch as I'm devoted to logic, I'm probably more like Spock, but instead of big Vulcan ears I have a big Vulcan nose. :-D

There's an old aphorism, introduced to me by an old girlfriend a few decades ago, to the effect that, "A woman marries a man hoping he will change; a man marries a woman hoping she will not." In light of the aphorism, I prefer a woman who likes me not for who she thinks I might become but for who I am now. :-) Oh, and I also prefer a woman who likes my excessive use of emoticons. :-p i have to add too that there's hardly anything more attractive than a woman who finds me attractive (no kidding here). It might seem obvious that I find attractive someone who finds me attractive--and I don't just mean physically--but an awful lot of women either date men they don't find attractive or hide the their attraction. Until I can set this tricorder to detect attraction, there's no hiding! Damnit, Jim, I'm a professor not a tricorder mechanic! :-D

You know, it occurs to me that a woman who likes the old Star Trek: TAS would be nice too. I mean, except for the horrible final episode, where the Enterprise gets pulled into a reverse universe where people start out dead, undie, youthen, and then get unborn. The reverse time nonsense might actually be even more stupid than creatures that get "quantum locked" into immobility by simply being observed, and certainly stupid enough for author Alan Dean Foster to make light of it in his novelization of the episode, but I digress... :-D
